1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. Similar technologies - local storage, session storage and pixels - do much the same job. They let a site remember something between page loads.
2. What we use
forklabs.tech is a static marketing site. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no ad or retargeting pixels. What may be set falls into three groups:
- Strictly necessary - set by our host or CDN to route requests, balance load and block abuse. The site does not work without these, and they cannot be switched off from here.
- Preference - a local storage entry named fl-consent that remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the banner does not ask again. Not shared with anyone.
- Analytics - Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-N006RYWEX2) sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID>, which keep a random identifier for up to two years so repeat visits can be counted. We use it only to see, in aggregate, which pages are viewed, for how long, and roughly where visitors come from. We do not use it for advertising. These cookies are set only after you click Accept on the cookie banner; until then the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all.
3. Third-party requests
The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts and, only if you accept analytics, the Google Analytics script (gtag.js) from Google Tag Manager. These requests reveal your IP address and browser to Google, which is governed by Google's own privacy policy. Analytics data is processed by Google on our behalf. We embed no social media widgets, ad pixels or session recorders.
4. How to control cookies
Analytics is off until you choose. To change your choice at any time, use the Cookie settings link in the site footer. If you withdraw consent, we delete the _ga cookies from your browser and stop loading Google Analytics.
Every major browser lets you see the cookies a site has set, delete them, and block new ones - usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
To stop Google Analytics on every site, not just this one, install Google's opt-out browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), or block cookies from forklabs.tech. The site works the same without analytics.
Browsers also offer a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. We do not run behavioural advertising, so there is nothing for these signals to switch off here.
5. Changes
If we add a tool that sets new cookies, we will update this page before it goes live, and change the date at the top. Questions go to hello@forklabs.tech.
